Next WorkshopDiscussion on the arrangements and contents of the 3. workshop that will be arranged at NPL, Teddington, September 9-10, 1999. Excursions to NPL laboratories will be arranged on September 8, 1999. The workshop is arranged in conjunction with the training course on September 6-7, 1999. 1.1 ProgrammeThe poster presentation will be set up in the beginning of the workshop, so that the posters can be viewed during the breaks. This will reduce the formal time that has to be reserved for the poster presentation. No restrictions for the number of posters were considered necessary. There will be a possibility to exhibit equipment. The local organiser needs to know the number of exhibitors in advance. A preliminary structure for the programme was agreed: Day 1

1.2 Responsibilities for 3. workshop
1.3 DeadlinesDue to different holiday seasons (July in Finland, August in most of Europe), all arrangements for the 3. workshop should be ready by June. The oral presentations should be selected by March 1999, and they should be presented in UVNEWS 2. The same UVNES will include call for participation and call for proposals for poster presentations. 2. Working groupsIt was agreed that when a working group gets some results ready, they will inform other working group leaders about their progress. 2.1 Working group reportsCo-ordinator needs short (max. 1 page) reports of WG's by November 30. These reports are needed for the annual report and to be included in UVNEWS. 2.2 Annual reportsThe first annual report of the network should be ready by December 15, 1998. 3. Next steering group meetingWednesday afternoon, September 8, 1999 at NPL. 4. Any other business4.1 Consortium agreementSome participants indicated that they cannot sign the proposed consortium agreement due to the costs of lawyers that they have to use to check the contents of the contract. Co-ordinator therefore decided that the consortium agreement will not be signed. 4.2 New participantsSteering group decided to accept LNE (France) as a participant in the network. Other invited guests so far will be paid for occasional participation. Guests whose financing was accepted so far are Petra Rettberg (DLR), Hans Rabus (PTB), Ann Webb (UMIST), Neil Harrison (NPL), and Toomas Hanken (iSiTEC). 4.3 Information exchange between the network and the EU project "Improving the accuracy of ultraviolet radiation measurement"Work package managers of the project will inform the working groups of the thematic network on the project, as appropriate within the conditions of the contract. 4.4 Topics of presentationsIt was decided that in the next workshop, a couple of topics of interest will be selected, and the speakers for the topics will be invited by the steering group.
It was agreed that the invited lecturers will be given a list
of preferred contents of the presentation. Bill Hartree promised
to provide a list which he used while organising a UV workshop
at NPL.
